When a woman found this poor, neglected pit bull on a country road in Georgia, she was in rough shape. Not only was she emaciated, anemic, and hypothermic, she was also suffering from a vaginal prolapse that probably caused her a great deal of pain.

Her rescuer brought the scared girl to the veterinarian at Granite Hills Animal Care — Dr. Mathis was forced to make a tough call: fight to help her survive or put her out of her misery. Thankfully, he chose to do everything he could to keep her alive.

This is how Graycie looked when she first came in.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Wow! I take a nap for an hour or so, and come back to find Graycie’s video being shared and with lots of views. I’m…

Slowly, she gained weight and got the care she desperately needed.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

And with some adorable coaxing, Dr Mathis got Graycie to eat. Hopefully she’ll soon learn to trust humans again.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Of course, the beautiful girl still has a long way to go, but if you’d like to help, you can find out how below.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Thanks everyone who has called, emailed, and messaged me about Graycie. and thanks to those who sent her positive…
